Job Title: Production Leader
Department: Manufacturing / Operations
Reports To: Production Manager or Plant Manager
Position Summary
The Production Leader is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations, ensuring production goals, quality standards, safety requirements, and delivery deadlines are consistently met. This role leads production employees, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and maintains an efficient, organized production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead production team members during assigned shifts.
- Coordinate daily production schedules to meet customer demand.
- Monitor productivity, efficiency, and quality metrics.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations and company policies.
- Train, coach, and mentor production associates.
- Conduct daily shift meetings and communicate production goals.
- Identify production issues and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Engineering teams.
- Monitor inventory levels and report material shortages.
- Maintain accurate production records and reports.
- Promote Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with employee performance evaluations and attendance management.
- Support equipment troubleshooting and minimize production downtime.
- Ensure products meet company and customer quality standards.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3–5 years of manufacturing experience.
- 1–3 years of supervisory or team lead experience.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement is a plus.
- Ability to read production schedules, work orders, and manufacturing documentation.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems preferred).
